Mazzilli Joins SNY Roster

By Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 12/11/2006 9:32:00 AM

SportsNet New York Monday named former New York Met (and Yankee) Lee Mazzilli lead studio analyst for its pregame and postgame coverage of the Amazins.

Mazzilli will join studio host Matt Yallof for more than 85 Mets telecasts from SNY’s street-level studio in Manhattan. Mazzilli will also file content for SNY’s Web site.

Mazzilli will make his first appearance for the regional sports network Monday at 6:30 p.m. on Mets Hot Stove.

“We are excited to add Lee as the newest member of our Mets broadcast team. His unique background as a former Met and Major League manager will be a strong complement to Keith [Hernandez], Ron [Darling] and Gary [Cohen], who had an outstanding season in our inaugural year,” SNY president Jon Litner said in a prepared statement. “Lee will provide our viewers a consistent studio presence and a passionate approach to baseball.”

“I am thrilled to join SportsNet New York and cover the Mets, who are one of the most exciting teams to watch in all of baseball,” Mazzilli said in a prepared statement. “It’s going to be a lot of fun covering a team that I grew up watching as a kid and had the great pleasure to play for. These are very exciting years for Met fans and New York fans alike.”
