Verizon Wins Small Massachusetts Franchise
Telco Challenges Comcast in Rowley

Verizon said in won a video franchise for its FiOS TV service in Rowley, Mass. The telephone company will take on incumbent cable TV operator Comcast in the town of 1,800 households.
The Rowley Board of Selectmen granted a cable franchise to Verizon Monday. The board’s vote brings to 63 the total number of Massachusetts communities where Verizon’s FiOS TV is or will soon be available.
Verizon offers FiOS TV to more than 500,000 households in 60 Massachusetts communities, addition to locations in New York, New Jersey, California, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas and Virginia.
Towns in Massachusetts where FiOS TV is available include: Acton, Andover, Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Boxborough, Boxford, Braintree, Burlington, Canton, Dedham, Dunstable, Framingham, Franklin, Georgetown, Hamilton, Holliston, Hopkinton, Ipswich, Lawrence, Lincoln, Littleton, Lexington, Lynn, Lynnfield, Marion, Marlborough, Marshfield, Mattapoisett, Medfield, Medway, Melrose, Methuen, Middleborough, Nahant, Natick, Needham, Newton, North Reading, Norwood, Reading, Rockland, Sherborn, Southborough, Stoneham, Sudbury, Swampscott, Tewksbury, Topsfield, Tyngsborough, Wakefield, Waltham, Wellesley, Wenham, West Newbury, Westborough, Westwood, Wilmington, Winchester and Woburn.
