MTVN Entertainment Group Formed

MTV Networks combined its “adult-directed and male-skewing brands” into multiplatform portfolio the MTVN Entertainment Group.

The programmer said the combination of television, online, broadband, user-generated content and gaming platforms -- from its brands including Comedy Central, Spike TV, TV Land, AddictingClips, AtomFilms, IFILM, GameTrailers.com and Xfire -- will “superserve a range of adult demos and collectively deliver scale with the highly coveted male 18- to 34-year-old demographic.”

President Doug Herzog will head MTVN Entertainment Group, reporting to MTVN chairman and CEO Judy McGrath. MTVN Entertainment Group joins the MTVN Music, Logo and Films Group and the MTVN Kids and Family Group under the programmer’s umbrella.

“The MTVN Entertainment Group creates a portfolio of television and digital brands that can collectively deliver underserved demos through killer content like comedy, gaming, video, news and information, and some classic TV, too," McGrath said in a prepared statement.

"Formalizing the Entertainment Group under Doug organizes us into three focused portfolio groups and highlights our overall strategy to provide the communities that form around our brands and content with immersive, multiplatform entertainment experiences,” she added.
