Lifetime Dances into New Reality Series

Distaff Network On Feb. 29 Adds First Dance Competition Series: 'Your Mama Don’t Dance'

By R. Thomas Umstead -- Multichannel News, 1/28/2008 5:21:00 AM

First there was Dancing With The Stars. Now Lifetime Television is offering dancing with your mom.

The distaff network on Feb. 29 will launch its first dance competition series Your Mama Don’t Dance, in which young professional dancers are paired with their parents as they compete with $100,000 in cash and prizes, according to the network.

The eight week series, hosted by Ian Ziering (Dancing With The Stars), will be executive produced by live show veteran Bob Bain (Billboard Music Awards, Miss America, Kids Choice Awards) and will feature three celebrity judges.

The series concludes in a live finale show on Friday, April 18th.

“Your Mama Don’t Dance distinguishes itself from other dance competition shows because its point of view is truly unique,” said Susanne Daniels, President of Entertainment for Lifetime Networks in a statement. “The relationships between the dancers and their parents will evolve during the eight weeks and it will be both heartwarming and heartbreaking -- with a lot of twists and unexpected turns along the way.”
