CTAM Live: Sportsman Channel Reels In ‘Fly Fishing World’

Series Will Appear Exclusively On Network

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, November 10, 2008

BOSTON--InterMedia Outdoors, Inc., the largest provider of content dedicated to sportsmen, and the parent company of The Sportsman Channel, said it will move the award-winning show Fly Fishing the World, exclusively to its network.

Fly Fishing the World, which previously aired on Versus and The Outdoor Channel, is produced by Barrett Productions, one of the preeminent producers of outdoors, adventure and sports television programming, which was acquired by IMO in August.

The move continues IMO’s strategy of stocking Sportsman with as much of its original productions as possible to fortify the network’s programming lineup and build its customer base.

Featuring celebirty guests casting their lines into the water, Fly Fishing the World, one of the longest-running outdoor programs on television and the only fishing series to ever garner a Cable Ace award., began on ESPN in 1990 and will be entering its 19th season in 2009.

“Programming decisions like this are on point for our strategy to make The Sportsman Channel the leading outdoor network, both in distribution and ratings," said InterMedia Outdoors CEO Jeff Paro in a statement. “Fly Fishing the World is a first-class, award-winning program and we are honored to have it exclusively on TSC. TSC continues to be a better value for the consumer and our partners."
