IFC to Air ‘Gotham Awards’ Live

Looking to kick off the film-award season, The Independent Film Channel will present the “Gotham Awards” live for the first time Dec. 1 at 9 p.m. (EST).
The telecast -- which will be preceded by a pre-event cocktail reception at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan -- will feature red-carpet arrivals before turning its attention to New York’s annual film-tribute and awards ceremony
Throughout 2004, IFC and Target Brands Inc. have joined together to help celebrate IFCs 10th anniversary with events at the Sundance Film Festival, the Spirit Awards and the Cannes Film Festival. The 14th annual Gotham Awards reception will be the final event of this celebration.
In the past, the Gotham Awards had been held in September, taped and aired later by IFC. The new date position the Gothams as the launching pad for awards season.
“We are proud to support this event as a sponsor and to give the show a strong voice on the network,” Evan Shapiro, senior vice president for IFC Network marketing, said in a prepared statement.
As co-host, Target has invited Kate Spade and Jack Spade to offer exclusive gifts for guests attending the event. Men will receive Jack Spade wallets, while women will take home Kate Spade clutch bags.
