Bronx Bombers Deliver Strong Early-Season Ratings
By Larry Barrett -- Multichannel News, 4/18/2008 9:14:00 AM MT
YES Network Friday said its first 15 New York Yankees telecasts this season averaged a 5.1 rating and almost half-a-million total viewers, the network’s highest ratings since its launch in 2002.
Season-to-date ratings are up 19% from 2007 (4.3 rating) and up 13% compared to the then-record 4.5 rating garnered for the first 15 games of 2004 (4.5 rating).
Wednesday’s game versus the Boston Red Sox delivered a 6.8 rating and more than 650,000 viewers, making it the second-highest rated and second-most watched game of the season.
YES was quick to add that the 6.8 rating was more than triple the 1.8 rating earned by SportsNet New York’s telecast of the New York Mets-Washington Nationals telecast that same evening.
