MTVN Web Sites Deliver 1.2 Billion Streams in 2007

Britney Spears’ “Gimme More” VMA Performance Most Popular Video of Year

By Steve Donohue -- Multichannel News, 12/27/2007 6:05:00 AM

MTV Networks said MTV.com, VH1.com and CMT.com delivered more than 1.2 billion Internet video streams in 2007, topping their performance in 2007 by more than 30%.

The disastrous performance by Britney Spears at the MTV Video Music Awards of her “Gimme More” single was the most streamed video on MTV.com in 2007.

Music videos drove the bulk of the video traffic for the Web sites. The collective brands within MTVN’s Music Group attract nearly 30 million unique visitors monthly, the company said.

Music videos also drove MTV Mobile, VH1 Mobile and CMT Mobile into triple-digit growth in 2007. MTV Mobile streams grew 90% percent over 2006, while VH1 streams grew by 100% and CMT recorded a 252 percent surge, MTVN said.

Soulja Boy’s “Crank Dat (Soulja Boy)” was the most-streamed video on both MTV Mobile and VH1 Mobile, MTVN said.

Sugarland’s “Stay,” which the group performed live during the CMT Music Awards, clinched the top spot on CMT Mobile.

MTV also released the top 30 most streamed videos across MTV.com, VH1.com and CMT.com:
