Now Playing: Daytime Emmy Nominees, Performances On YouTube

Online Video-Sharing Site Will Feature A New ‘Emmy Channel’

By Linda Haugsted -- Multichannel News, 5/28/2008 8:02:00 AM

Daytime TV watchers can check out Emmy-nominated series and performances now on YouTube.

An Emmy Channel has been established as part of the collaboration between the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the user-generated content site. The site will contain 57 nominee videos from 13 categories, including best acting and writing in daytime dramas, best talk show host, informative and entertainment talk show and best courtroom program.

The channel will provide extra exposure for nominated shows in advance of the award program scheduled June 20 at 8 p.m. from Hollywood. The telecast will be on ABC.

On the Primetime Emmy promotional side, several cable hopefuls will get the big-screen treatment in Los Angeles beginning June 3, as the Los Angeles Times' stages a screening series of potential nominees as part of a promotion of its online awards coverage site, The Envelope.

The screenings, for an audience of television executives and voters, will include panels with the shows' creators and stars. Featured in the screening series will be AMC's Mad Men, HBO's Big Love; FX's Damages; AMC's Breaking Bad, Sci-Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica and Fox's House.
