Sling Media will integrate technology from marketing-system provider GetConnected (GCi) into its SlingPlayer software, used with its Slingbox to enable access of a home television via the Internet or mobile devices.
Slated for the second quarter, the integration will allow new and existing U.S. Slingbox customers to purchase digital content and services from local-area cable, Internet and satellite providers during the installation process of the SlingPlayer software.
“GCi offers a wide-ranging set of tools to take advantage of market changes, discover new revenue streams, deliver superior customer experiences and capitalize on the growth potential in the digital-media-delivery business,” Sling Media vice president of marketing Rich Buchanan said in a prepared statement.
