Brightcove Scores IAC Agreement

Ticketmaster, Citysearch, 23/6 to Use Internet TV Platform

By Steve Donohue -- Multichannel News, 12/19/2007 5:14:00 AM

Internet video distributor Brightcove scored an agreement with Barry Diller’s IAC which will see the company use Brightcove’s platform to for Web sites run by Ticketmaster, Citysearch, 23/6 and other IAC Web properties.

IAC, which bought a minority stake in Brightcove in December 2006, said it will use Brightcove’s on-demand platform to publish video content to its Web sites, manage syndication and viral distribution, integrate advertising, and launch independent or integrated consumer media campaigns.

“Brightcove is in tune with the new content consumers want and has been able to recognize the need for effective video distribution in a world where computer screens are replacing television screens,” Diller, IAC’s chairman and CEO, said in Wednesday’s announcement. “By making this platform available across IAC we can continue to deepen engagement with our online audiences, expand the reach of our brands, and open powerful new revenue streams through online video advertising across our sites.”

Based in Cambridge, Mass., Brightcove’s customers include A&E Television Networks, CBS, Discovery Communications, Dow Jones & Company, Fox Entertainment Group, MTV Networks, National Geographic, The New York Times Company, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, and Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive.
