Comcast Taps Schanz for New Engineering Post

Comcast Corp. has hired John Schanz to fill a new position as executive vice president of national engineering and technical operations, effective Jan. 16.

Schanz comes to Comcast from America Online Inc., where he served as executive VP of network and data-center operations. He will report directly to Steve Burke, Comcast’s chief operating officer.

Schanz will oversee Comcast's engineering and network-operations and technology strategy to support deployment of new communications products and services.

"John's 20 years of technical and operational experience will be a tremendous asset as we further deploy integrated video, high-speed-Internet, voice and wireless services to consumers," Burke said in a release. "I look forward to working with John to leverage our unparalleled platform in support of our deployment of new products."
