By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 1/24/2007 12:14:00 PM

The third-season premiere of Digging for the Truth made history for The History Channel Monday night.

The two-hour show, entitled Atlantis: New Revelations, registered the network’s best-ever series- or season-premiere numbers among adults 18-49 and 25-54, garnering 911,000 and 1.1 million of those watchers, respectively, between 9 p.m.-11 p.m. (EST/PST) Monday, according to History executives.

The former represented a 77% advance from the second season’s opener, while the latter marked an 84% gain from that episode.

History ranked second among all ad-supported cable channels in that time slot with men 25 -54, according to network officials.

All told, the show averaged a 1.7 household rating and 2.1 million total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
