The Michigan Senate passed a bill Tuesday that would create a uniform statewide cable franchise, AP reported.
The bill has faced opposition from local governments, fearing that their existing contracts with cable operators could be broken, and support from potential competitors such as AT&T and Verizon Communications, according to AP.
The Republican-led Senate voted 26-12 to send the bill back to the House, AP reported.
