Cox Boosts Data Speeds

Cox Communications Inc. is increasing high-speed-data service to 9 megabits per second downstream and 1 mbps upstream to its customers in central Florida, the Gulf Coast of Florida and middle Georgia systems.

Cox said its “Premiere” customers will receive the upgrade at no additional cost to the current $54.95-per-month bundled price. The previous level of service was 5 mbps downstream and 768 kilobits per second upstream.

Cox also offers a “Preferred Internet” package of 4 mbps downstream and 512 kbps upstream.
