By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 9/21/2007 5:38:00 AM

Discovery Communications Inc. has tapped veteran television executive Nancy Daniels to lead its West Coast development efforts.

Nancy Daniels, who most recently had been serving as vice president of alternative series development since 2003, has been named vice president of development and production for Discovery Studios, the recently recreated DCI division charged with developing and producing original series, specials, theatrical documentaries and short-form content for the Silver Spring, Md.-based content company's TV networks.

In her new post, Daniels will manage all of the development and production of all existing and future programming created by Discovery Studios in Los Angeles. Projects now under her supervision include programs for TLC, Travel Channel, Planet Green and Discovery Health Channel, among others.

In her job at CBS, she worked on a wide range of Black Rock’s reality properties, including Survivor, the multiple Emmy Award-winner The Amazing Race, Big Brother, Rock Star and others. Prior to joining CBS, Daniels had an extensive career as a producer in the independent television community.

“Nancy Daniels' arrival marks and important step in the growth of Discovery Studios,”said Clark Bunting, president of Discovery Studios, in a statement. “She is going to play a vital role in developing new productions, on-air talent and compelling content and I am delighted to have someone of her caliber and experience in this position.”
