Comcast and TiVo took the wraps off of a Motorola digital-video recorder integrated with TiVo software Monday.
The product, originally expected to be deployed on most Comcast systems by the end of 2006, is more than one year behind its rollout schedule.
TiVo and Comcast demonstrated the integrated DVR Monday at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
While the companies haven’t yet released pricing details for the DVR service, Comcast and TiVo said Monday that they will charge a “modest fee” for the product.
Comcast will be able to remotely download TiVo software to subscriber homes, avoiding the expense of sending field technicians to install the TiVo service, the company added.
Comcast began testing the integrated TiVo service on Motorola set-tops running in employee homes in Denver last month. The company expects to launch its first market trial of the TiVo service by this spring.
