VH1 Books Mayer for Gala Event

John Sykes to be Honored at Save the Music Foundation Event

Grammy Award-winner John Mayer agreed to headline the VH1 Save the Music Foundation 10th anniversary celebration at Lincoln Center in New York.

The gala celebration will honor founder John Sykes and foundation supporter NAMM: The International Music Products Association.

In addition to Mayer, the event will also feature a performance by the VH1 Save the Music Foundation Student Orchestra, as well as a live auction emceed by Project Runway star Tim Gunn.

Save the Music works to restore music education programs in public schools across the country. To date, the foundation has provided schools with more than $34 million in new musical instruments, including its recent venture with NAMM to donate $200,000 worth of instruments to public schools affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
