Cox Adds NFL Network Game Package

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 11/10/2006 12:05:00 PM

Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications and Cablevision Systems remain among the few operators that haven’t reached distribution deals to carry NFL Network’s eight-game Thursday- and Saturday-night package after Cox Communications announced that it will offer the package as part of its sports-and-information tier.

Cox will offer the games -- which begin Thanksgiving night with the Kansas City-Denver clash -- on the tier, according to Cox officials. The MSO, however, would not reveal subscriber-penetration rates. Comcast has also said that it will distribute the games on its digital tiers.

NFL Network had previously insisted that it would only allow MSOs to carry its live NFL games on basic tiers. Time Warner, which doesn’t have a distribution deal with the network, has said it would only distribute the network on its digital-sports tier.

Representatives from the NFL Network, Time Warner and Cablevision would not return repeated calls for comment.
