Sophomore Run for Oxygen’s Campus Sitcom

Oxygen will breathe new life into comedy series Campus Ladies with a 10-episode renewal deal, part of a new slate of programming that will also feature the launch of a new distaff-targeted reality show, Bad Girls Club.
Meanwhile, real-life bad girl Shannen Doherty’s run on Oxygen is on life support. The network has not given the green light to the former Beverly Hills 90210 star’s reality series, Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty, which ended its 13-week run last Tuesday.
Oxygen president of programming and marketing Debby Beece said Campus Ladies -- in which two middle-aged women try their hand at college life -- will return for a sophomore run beginning Dec. 5 at 11 p.m.
The show’s second season could get a major lift from several Hollywood star cameo appearances from Megan Mullally, Sean Hayes, Jason Alexander, Penny Marshall, Beverly D’Angelo, Janeane Garofalo and Mo’Nique.
Preceding Campus Ladies on Tuesday nights will be Bad Girls Club, a new 22-episode reality series from Real World producer Jon Murray. The show will take seven girls “who lie, cheat and flirt their way out of trouble and have serious trust issues with other women” and place them under one roof, according to the network.
One month after the debuts of Campus Ladies and Bad Girls Club, Oxygen will return reality series The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency for its second campaign, pairing it with new reality hairstyling-competition series Tease.
Dickinson, the former model turned agency mogul, will also receive her own holiday special on the network, Christmas with the Dickinsons , which will premiere Dec. 13.
Beece would not say whether the network will experiment with another scripted series, but she did say that the women’s-aimed service will develop two original movies in 2007. The first, The Robber Bride, starring Mary-Louise Parker, will debut in midyear. The network has not identified its second telefilm.
