Charter Launches RFD-TV in Tennessee

All Of Its Tennessee Systems Go Live Thursday

By Linda Moss -- Multichannel News, 10/27/2008 7:40:00 AM

Charter Communications is launching RFD-TV on all its Tennessee cable systems effective this Thursday, officials said Monday.

“The programming certainly fits the market and has proven acceptance,” Nick Pavlis, Charter’s Director of Government Relations Tennessee/Louisiana Operations, said in a prepared statement. “We look forward to partnering with RFD-TV for many years to come.”

RFD-TV aims to serve the general interests and needs of rural America with a variety of original programs including Imus in the Morning, Crook & Chase, the newly acquired Hee Haw and The Marty Stewart Show.

“We are ecstatic to announce our partnership with Charter’s Tennessee systems,” Manda Patrick, director of affiliate sales and marketing for RFD-TV’s Central Division, said in a prepared statement. “With Tennessean’s love for horses and vast involvement in agriculture and music, the partnership is a perfect match.”

Over the past year, Charter has invested over $1 billion in capital—including millions in Tennessee—to upgrade its networks. The cable operator will offer RFD-TV in the Charter Digital Total View package on channel 147.
