By R. Thomas Umstead -- Multichannel News, 2/27/2008 5:08:00 AM

The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Spike TV will team to create a campaign encouraging UFC fans to register to vote.

The multiplatform initiative, dubbed "Fight For Your Ultimate Right," will include spots featuring athletes from the mixed-martial arts company, as well as UFC president Dana White prodding 18-to-29-year-olds to get involved in the upcoming election, according to network officials.

In addition, the campaign will feature in-arena voter registration drives at UFC events, beginning with the March 1 UFC 82 pay-per-view event in Columbus, Ohio.

The campaign will also include digital content and will feature exclusive video, plus links to the Declare Yourself non-partisan voter registration Web site to register on-line in any state.

“There are over 79 million eligible unregistered voters in the United States, 20 million of which are young adults who represent our target audience,” said Spike TV president Kevin Kay. “Spike TV encourages all of our viewers to become the voice of the American people, and to join the fight get to the polls this November come Election Day.”
