USA Wins Cable's Week In Primetime
New Installments of 'Monk,' 'Psych' Provide Nielsen Impetus

USA Network, lifted by strong showings from its Monday and Friday night franchises, wore cable’s primetime crown last week.
The “characters” network averaged a 2.2 household rating from Jan. 14 through Jan. 20, according to Disney ABC Cable Networks analysis of Nielsen Media Research data.
USA was lifted by new episodes of Monk,the week’s top program with 5.46 million viewers) and Psych, sixth with 4.21 million, on Jan. 18. Monday night staple WWE Raw pinned the second and third most-viewed shows of the week on Jan. 14 -- the 10-11 p.m. slot was second with 4.93 million viewers, just ahead of the earlier hour’s 4.86 million
Disney Channel was second for the week with a 1.9 average, while TNT was third at a 1.6.
There was a three-way logjam among Fox News Channel, Nick at Nite and Hallmark Channel for fourth position, as all scored a 1.4 mark.
The Jan. 19 premiere of Hallmark’s telefilm The Good Witch conjured up 4.23 million, fifth for the week, according to the Disney ABC analysis.
TBS and AMC were next, each with a 1.3 average, while Lifetime Television and ABC Family completed the top 10: both with a 1.2.
ABC Family’s original movie, Bring It On: In It To Win, ranked fourth for the week, notching 4.55 million viewers on Jan. 20.
