FiOS TV Expands in Massachusetts

Telco Competes With Cable in 55 Massachusetts Communities

By Steve Donohue -- Multichannel News, 9/28/2007 5:39:00 AM

Challenging incumbent cable TV provider Comcast, Verizon said it launched its FiOS TV product in Medway, Mass., on Friday.

Medway, which counts about 3,500 households, is one of 55 Massachusetts communities where Verizon is selling pay TV, high-speed Internet and phone service under the FiOS brand.

Verizon said it is also negotiating franchise agreements with 11 additional communities in Massachusetts.

The telco has also ramped up franchise activity and deployments this month in New York state. On Wednesday, Verizon won a franchise in the Rockland, County, N.Y., village of Hillburn, where it will challenge incumbent Time Warner Cable.
