The second season premiere of ABC Family drama Lincoln Heights hit ratings heights.

Lincoln Heights attracted a best-ever 1.6 million viewers on average from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept. 4, up 14% from the 1.4 million who tuned in the show’s debut in January, according to Nielsen Media research data.

The show -- which follows the trials and tribulations of an African-American family returning to the rough and tumble neighborhood where the father, now a police officer, grew up – also set series marks among adults 18 to 49 (614,000 of those watchers) and persons 12 to 34 (811,000.)

Network officials said the Lincoln Heights episode was basic cable’s top show in its time period that night among females 12 to 34 (540,000), and was second among persons 12 to 34 and teens (491,000). It ranked sixth among women 18 to 49 (428,000).
