Retirement Living TV Puts Health Care 'Solutions' Under Spotlight

GOP Candidate Romney First Guest On Series Produced With Johns Hopkins, NCHC

By Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 1/13/2008 2:46:00 AM

Retirement Living TV is teaming with Johns Hopkins University and the National Coalition on Health Care on a TV series that will give U.S. presidential hopefuls and other public officials a chance to disseminate their views on health care issues.

Health ’08: Search for Solutions, in which leaders will address health care problems and present possible answers to remedy this nation’s woes in the field, bows Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. (ET) on Retirement Living TV, with Republican candidate Mitt Romney. Other guests the first week include New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg (Jan. 16) and AARP CEO Bill Novelli (Jan. 17).

The half-hour series, featuring a rotation of journalists, including Diane Rehm, Judy Woodruff and RLTV’s Lea Thompson moderating the discussions, will also be available at the network’s, university’s and health organization’s Web sites.

“According to AARP’s online presidential debate tracker, one out of four Americans rate health care as their top domestic concern.  At RLTV, we feel it is our responsibility to give the candidates a forum in which to discuss their healthcare strategies,” said RLTV vice president of programming and production Elliot Jacobson, in a statement. “This issue demands our attention and focus.”
