Congregants of a 3,500-member mega-church in San Diego will have the ability to virtually attend church—even as they visit out-of-state relatives—now that the Rock Church has contracted with Cox Business Services to provide voice, video and data services to enable the facility's multi-media mission.
The church wanted to reach out with multi-media presentations via Internet video and podcasts, and utilize high-tech gear in the sanctuary, such as a 90-foot high definition video screen.
The church contracted with Cox Business Services to provide communications capabilities for the sanctuary and the facility's K-12 Christian school. The Cox division designed and installed a fiber optic infrastructure throughout the 279,000 square-foot facility, featuring a 10 Mbps dedicated fiber connection to support data transfer, phone service and Internet needs.
The church plans to build a professional broadcast studio onsite to produce live and taped programming for Internet distribution.
