Food Network to Serve Glutton for Punishment

Series Stars Surreal Gourmet Host Blumer

Food Network cooked up a new culinary adventure series, Glutton for Punishment, starring chef Bob Blumer (host of network series The Surreal Gourmet).

The half-hour show -- premiering Tuesday, July 10 at 9:30 p.m. -- features Blumer taking on food- and spirits-related challenges, from oyster shucking at the Annual Urbanna Oyster Festival’s “shuck-off” competition to juggling bottles in the International Flair Challenge for bartenders.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bob Blumer back onto Food Network,” senior vice president of programming and production Bob Tuschman said in a prepared statement. “He takes on ridiculously entertaining culinary challenges in his new show, and our viewers are going to enjoy going along for the ride.”
