HD South Park Episode to Debut on Xbox LIVE

MTV Networks Inks Deal with Microsoft for HD Debut of Comedy Central Show

Comedy Central’s SouthPark is going HD for the first time ever, but only for Xbox LIVE subscribers, following an agreement between MTV Networks and Microsoft.

The episode, Good Times with Weapons, can be downloaded via Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE Marketplace. It will be offered free-of-charge for two weeks.

Consumer-electronics retailer Best Buy said it will offer free HD DVDs of the episode with the purchase of any Xbox 360 console or HD DVD drive from March 20-April 3.

Xbox LIVE already offers seasons 1-9 of South Park, as well as feature film South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.

Microsoft announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January that it would combine the Xbox 360 with its Internet-protocol-TV software for service providers, effectively turning its video-game console into an IPTV set-top box.
