Production Begins On 'Mad Men's Second Season

AMC’s Acclaimed Retro Advertising Series Set For July Debut

AMC announced that production began this week in Los Angeles on the sophomore season of its award-winning original series, Mad Men. 

Produced by Lionsgte, the new 13-episode season will debut in July and be available in both standard- and high-definition. The first season becomes available on DVD July 1.

The show, which follows the personal and professional lives of men and women at a Manhattan ad agency, circa 1960, won a Golden Globe for best drama, while Jon Hamm’s portrayal of creative leader Don Draper earned him a best actor Globe. The series also took a Peabody, among a host of other awards and accolades.

  It will be great to see this stylish and intelligent show back for its second season. "Mad Men" and subsequently "Breaking Bad" have put AMC near the top of the creative curve in terms of cable series. Way above anything coming out of Turner, and close to FX with "Rescue Me" especially. When discussing how good this show is, let's not focus on ratings -- of course you're going to get better numbers with a police procedural -- let's talk about how unique and mature it is, an amazing look at a fascinating group of individuals.
