By Larry Barrett -- Multichannel News, 6/24/2008 11:20:00 AM

Army Wives continues to give Lifetime executives something to salute. Sunday’s episode of the most successful series in the network’s 24-year history was the evening’s most-watched cable drama among women and posted a household rating of 3.4.

A total of 3.75 million viewers tuned into the third episode of the series’ second season. The show has been especially popular with the ladies, recording a 25% surge in women viewers 18-49 and 27% and 29%, respectively, among women 18-24 and 18-34 compared to the third episode of its first season.

For the third-consecutive Sunday, Army Wives was the most-watched primetime basic cable program among women 18-24, 18-34, 18-49, 25-54 and among all women viewers 18 years or older.

Also, traffic to myLifetime.com has increased 55% from Season One to Season Two through the first three episodes, Lifetime officials said.

Filmed on location in Charleston, South Carolina, Army Wives stars Kim Delaney, Sally Pressman, Brigid Brannagh, Brian McNamara, Sterling K. Brown, Wendy Davis, Drew Fuller and Catherine Bell. Mark Gordon and The Mark Gordon Company’s President of Production, Deborah Spera, serve as executive producers. Nick Thiel and series creator Katherine Fugate also serve as executive producers. The series is based on the book “Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives” by Tanya Biank, who serves as a consultant. Army Wives is produced by ABC Studios.
