Court TV Gets Comic Treatment

Teams Up with DC Comics to Promote ‘Til Death Do Us Part

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 2/27/2007 12:05:00 PM

To promote its upcoming series ‘Til Death Do Us Part, Court TV collaborated with DC Comics on an illustrated version of the first episode, with host John Waters on the cover.

In the comic, film director Waters, as The Groom Reaper, watches newlyweds Bonnie and Ronald speed away from their wedding in the front seat of a hearse. “In just SIX YEARS, one of them will be riding in the BACK,” comic-book Waters intones.

The pages that come next lay out the scenario -- Bonnie’s office job draws her closer to her boss and further from funeral-director hubby Ronald, who jealously orders Bonnie to quit her job. She refuses. All that’s left to find out is which spouse kills the other. Executive producer Ken Hanes, who wrote the comic, leaves that cliffhanger ending for the series premiere March 19 at 10 p.m.

The 13-part series -- each episode starts off with a wedding and proceeds to a murder -- is Court TV’s first scripted drama. The comic can be viewed on Court TV’s Web site.
