'Truckers' Steers 3.9M Viewers
History Channel Series Leads Cable This Past Sunday Night

This past Sunday’s episode of The History Channel’sIce Road Truckers was the most-watched cable program of the evening, delivering 3.9 million viewers in the 10 p.m. time slot.
Ice Road Truckers posted a 2.7 household rating in the 10 p.m. (ET/PT) slot, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The Aug. 12 installment was also tops for cable in terms of adults 25 to 54 with 2.5 million viewers, as well as with men 25 to 54 with 1.6 million, according to network officials.
Ice Road Truckers, a reality show that follows the treacherous journeys of truckers across slick roads in Canada, also gave The History Channel its best performance ever among adults 25 to 54 and 18 to 49, and with men in those demos.
TheIce Road Truckers primetime marathon from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 12 boosted History into the top spot on cable for the night with adults 25 to 54 and men 25 to 54 and 18 to 49. Among adults 18 to 49, The History Channel was tied for No. 1.
Through the first nine episode premieres, Ice Road Truckers, which came out of the chute with 3.4 million viewers, has averaged 3.1 million viewers.
This Sunday night Aug. 19, History will reveal the 2007 champion, as Hugh “Polar Bear” Rowland and Alex Debogorski go head-to-head for ice road supremacy.
The network also announced that it would roll three bonus installments. The Ice Road: Then and Now, a one-hour retrospective about the ice roads in Northern Canada, will bow Aug. 26 at 9 p.m. That show will be followed by a two-part reunion special, Ice Road Truckers: Off The Ice, which will reunite the truckers for the first time since the season ended last winter, on Sept. 2 and 9 at 9 p.m.
