Verizon Secures Two More FiOS TV Franchises
To Compete vs. Cablevision in Port Chester; Comcast in Lower Merion Township

Verizon Communications added two more video franchises for its FiOS TV service following votes Wednesday night, pitting it against Cablevision Systems and Comcast.
The Westchester County village of Port Chester’s Board of Trustees approved a franchise for the telco, bringing its total number of New York communities to 27. Cablevision is the incumbent operator in Port Chester.
And the board of commissioners of Lower Merion Township, Pa., where Comcast is the incumbent, brought Verizon’s tally in that state to 113 municipalities in Montgomery, Chester, Bucks and Delaware counties.
The telco also launched FiOS TV in Elmsford, N.Y. a village in Westchester County.
Verizon currently offers FiOS TV in parts of California, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.
