By Larry Barrett -- Multichannel News, 4/25/2008 5:09:00 AM MT

Comedy Central this week announced The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will host former President Jimmy Carter, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and current Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in the next couple weeks as part of the show’s “Indecision 2008” coverage.

Former President Carter is scheduled to appear Monday, April 28 with Gingrich and Reid slated for appearance on April 29 and May 5, respectively.

Howard Dean, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, will also sit down with host Jon Stewart on May 1.

The May 5 appearance by Senator Reid marks the first time the Senate Majority Leader will appear on the show. Former President Carter will be appearing for the second time (December 2005) while it will be the third and fourth time around, respectively, for Gingrich and Dean.

The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.

Interviews with all the former and current politicians will be available the day after their respective appearances at both the network’s Web site and the show’s “Indecision 2008” site.
