Stars, Executives Take Center Stage At Sci Fi Upfront

Battlestar Galactica Cast Hits Red Carpet One Last Time

By Linda Moss -- Multichannel News, 3/19/2008 10:40:00 AM

New York – The cast of Battlestar Galactica Tuesday fielded press questions before Sci Fi Channel’s upfront presentation here, and star Edward James Olmos sounded almost bitter about the end of the show.

A somber Olmos complained about the fact that the popular series was about to shoot the tail end of its final season, and said he had always cautioned viewers not to watch the show because it was too depressing.

In fact, his rather negative remarks prompted some smiles and amusement from his fellow female cast mates, including Mary McDonnell and Katee Sackhoff, who were seated in front of him onstage at the Morgan Library.

In the midst of his remarks, Olmos looked up and gave a shout-out to a VIP in the audience.

“I love you Bonnie Hammer,” he said from the stage, addressing Sci Fi’s president.

Executive producer-writer Ronald D. Moore told the gathered scribes that the cast was eager to do a Battlestar Galactica theatrical, but added that odds for such a project were slim.
