The votes are in, and the big Election Night winners are: the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets.
The two NBA teams will tip off against each other Nov. 4 on NBA TV in the network’s first ever telecast voted on by the fans. Each week the 15-million subscriber digital network allows fans to vote via NBA.com for the game they want to watch the following Tuesday—part of the network’s theme night programming strategy.
The Celtics-Rockets contest drew 60% of the fan vote, out dueling a Phoenix Suns-New Jersey Nets matchup and a Dallas Mavericks-San Antonio Spurs game. The network would not reveal the number of actual votes cast.
Voting for the Nov. 11 live telecast begins on Nov. 4 and runs for 24 hours, according to the network.
Also premiering on NBA TV Nov. 4 is The Beat, a weekly roundtable show featuring NBA beat writers from newspapers across the country that will air prior to the game.
NBA TV’s first live game coverage premieres on Sat., Nov. 1 with a doubleheader featuring the Washington Wizards-Detroit Pistons and the Portland Trail Blazers-Phoenix Suns matchups, according to the network.
