USA Network’s new original drama In Plain Sight saw some strong ratings with its debut Sunday, drawing 5.25 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data released by the network Monday.

The new crime drama averaged a 3.97 household rating in its time slot from 10 p.m. to 11:16 p.m., and drew 2.3 million viewers 18 to 49 and 2.57 million viewers 25 to 54.

In Plain Sightfeatures Mary McCormack as a U.S. Marshal attached to the Federal Witness Protection Program in Albuquerque, N.M.

Compared to the year-to-date time period average, In Plain Sight was up 101% in household ratings, 69% in adult 18 to 49, 98% in adults 25 to 54 and 107% in total viewers.

USA said that compared to the launch of last summer's hit show Burn Notice, In Plain Sight was up 21% in the household rating, 16% in adults 18to 49, 17% up in adults 25 to 54 and 32% in total viewers.

Compared to the premiere of Law & Order: Criminal Intent in 2007, In Plain Sight saw a 28% increase in the household rating, a 36% gain in viewers 18 to 49, a 34% jump in adults 25 to 54 and a 40% gain in total viewers.

The new drama posted the best performance for the key demographics in the time period since the second season premiere of The 4400 in June 2005. In total viewers, this is the best performance since the series premiere of The 4400 in July 2004.
