News 12 Forecast: Hyper Local Conditions

Cablevision’s News Service Reaches Deal With Weather Underground For Detailed Data On 400 New York-Area Neighborhoods

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 10/22/2008 6:37:00 AM

News 12 and News 12 Traffic and Weather will make their weather reports even more local.

Cablevision Systems Corp.’s local news networks signed an agreement with Weather Underground that provides exclusive access to more than 400 local neighborhood weather stations across the New York metropolitan area.

Moreover, the detailed weathercast information will available on News12.com, giving site visitors access to this new source of real-time weather conditions and forecasts.

“This is an exciting and important moment for News 12”, said News 12 president Patrick Dolan in a statement. “We’ve always provided the most comprehensive look at local weather, through our Dual Doppler system and thousands of local forecasts across our market every day, but the addition of real-time information from more than 400 Weather Underground stations to our weather-gathering resources, and in the hands of our experienced and knowledgeable meteorologists, will allow us to take hyper-local to the extreme.”
