Time Warner Cable has prided itself as being one of the most tightly clustered MSOs in the country, with more than 85% of its customers are located in five geographic regions. In March, the company revamped some of its divisions to reflect its 2006 purchase of Adelphia Communications and the changing cable landscape.
West
The West Region includes TWC’s largest system, Los Angeles, with 1.7 million customers, as well as San Diego and Hawaii. The division, led by former Los Angeles market division president Stephen Pagano, has more than 2.5 million subscribers.
Texas
Headed by former New York market chief Barry Rosenblum, the Texas Region has more than 1.8 million customers, mainly in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, which was acquired from Comcast as part of the joint purchase of Adelphia Communications in 2006.
Midwest/Ohio
Led by Terry O’Connell, the Midwest region is dominated by Milwaukee and Green Bay, Wis. (home of Wisconsin on Demand) and Akron/Cleveland, Ohio. Overall the region has 2.8 million customers.
Carolinas
Overseen by long-time regional executive Carol Hevey, the Carolinas has 1.9 million subscribers and includes key markets Raleigh, N.C., and Columbia, S.C. (the test bed for Start Over and other TWC technological innovations).
New York City
Time Warner’s second largest system with 1.5 million customers was split off from the rest of the state in March — upstate New York is now headed by long-time executive William Goetz — and is led by former New York division president Howard Szarfarc.
Northeast
The Northeast region, led by William Goetz, includes Upstate New York (Buffalo and Albany) and Maine, and has 2.8 million customers. The market also includes Portland, Maine, TWC’s first VoIP telephony market.
