Nickelodeon Shoots Neopets Mini-Shows

Kids’ Network Teams Up with MTVN Sister on Promotion

By Steve Donohue -- Multichannel News, 5/31/2007 11:14:00 AM

Nickelodeon said it is teaming up with its MTV Networks sister company, Neopets.com, to launch a series of Neopets “mini-shows.”

MTVN acquired Neopets, an online community for kids, in June 2005.

Nickelodeon said the Neopets mini-shows will run as interstitials between programs and “reveal pivotal story moments from the world of Neopia, such as characters outsmarting each other, escaping dangers, taking chances, or setting evil plans in motion.”

The kids’ network said the mini-shows will feature multiple endings and bring to screen several Neopets characters, including mad scientist Lab Ray and Trunkard, “an underwater Petpet.”

Nickelodeon is motivating Neopets fans to watch the mini-shows by embedding “hidden clues” in each episode that it said will unlock puzzles and trivia questions on the Neopets Web site.
