Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network has hired Time Warner Cable executive Howard Levinson as senior vice president of ad sales.
In addition to running day-to-day ad sales operations, Levinson will work on a number of strategic initiatives, including the continued transition of YES from a traditional media company to one delivering programming and marketing solutions across numerous platforms.
Before joining the regional sports service, Levinson worked as regional vice president, media sales for Time Warner Cable’s New York cluster, where he oversaw all advertising sales, marketing and promotions for the operator’s New York/New Jersey/Hudson Valley divisions, as well as for SportsNet New York, the regional sports owned in part by Time Warner.
“I’m excited to have Howard here as a partner,” said YES executive vice president of ad sales Mich Wach, to whom Levinson will report, in a statement. “Having spent so much of his career in the New York market, Howard has forged a rock-solid reputation among local and regional advertisers and buyers. In an ever-changing, often-confusing marketplace, he truly understands what clients want and need. His stellar track record will most certainly help bolster our leadership position in the market.”
Prior to joining Time Warner Cable in January 2005, Levinson worked at Tribune-owned WPIX-TV in New York from 1995 to 2005, finishing as general sales manager.Earlier, he was national sales manager at WXON-TV in Detroit from 1987-1995, and served as an account executive at MMT Sales in New York from 1983-1987.
