EchoStar Communications, as previously announced, has added The History Channel HD to the Dish Network, bringing the direct-broadcast satellite operator's national HD lineup count to 39.
In the ongoing game of one-upmanship on HDTV programming, Dish got a small jump on DirecTV, which had expected to host the debut of History's HD feed this month.
The History Channel HD is on Dish channel 9491. The DBS operator charges $20 per month extra for its HD programming package (not including local stations), though it is offering six months free to new DishHD customers who sign an 18-month contract.
A&E Television Networks' History Channel HD simulcasts the main channel's programming lineup, which includes series such as Ice Road Truckers, Human Weapon, Cities of the Underworld and Dogfights.
