Versus and Tennis Channel will provide coverage of the 2008 Davis Cup first round tie between the U.S., the defending champion, and team Austria this weekend, beginning at noon (ET) each day.

Captained by Patrick McEnroe, the U.S., which last year captured its first Davis Cup sinU.S. wins 2007 Davis Cup in Portland, Ore.ce 1995 with a 4-1 win over Russia, will again feature the singles work of Andy Roddick and James Blake and the top-ranked doubles due of Bob and Mike Bryan.

The best-of-five competition will play out on clay courts, not the Americans’ favorite surface, in Vienna.

Versus initiates its coverage on Feb. 8 with singles matches, which later be encored at 8 p.m. on Tennis. The same scheduling pattern holds true with the doubles match on Saturday and the reverse singles on Sunday.

For its part, Tennis Channel will also offer complete live coverage of this weekend’s tie between 2007 Davis Cup runner-up Russia and Serbia, with singles action from Moscow slated for 5 a.m. on Feb. 8 and Feb. 10 and the doubles at 6 a.m. Saturday.

Tennis Channel and Verus are partnering again in 2008 to cover all USA Davis Cup action throughout the tournament. Should the team advance past Austria, both networks will televise its second-round competition against the winner of this weekend’s other first-round battle between France and Romania.
