CMT Sets Its First On-Demand Offering

Nashville, Tenn.Country Music Television has entered the video-on-demand rodeo.

The network last Friday launched its VOD offering, including spotlights on country stars and music specials, as well as past season of such original series as Cowboy U and Popularity Contest, on Comcast Corp. and Charter Communications Inc. systems.

In addition, CMT will exclusively debut one-minute profiles on each of contestants of the 2006 Miss America Pageant, which will air live Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. on the network, via Comcast On Demand and Comcast.net (www.comcast.net) starting Dec. 27.

Comcast High-Speed Internet subscribers will also be able to view exclusive Miss America content, vote for their favorite contestant and enter to win a trip to see the 2007 Miss America Pageant.

“By partnering with our distributors and providing additional CMT content to our consumers through VOD, millions of fans will have even more ways to stay connected to their favorite country music and artists,” MTV Networks senior VP of affiliate marketing Jessica Heacock said in a statement.

Hallmark Film 'Journey' Travels Well in Nielsens

Los AngelesHallmark Channel original movie Love's Long Journey was the most-watched telecast in the network's history.

The film's debut on Dec. 3 posted a 3.0 household rating, attracting some 2.93 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data. That made it the highest-rated ad-supported cable movie of the day, and the second-highest-rated ad-supported cable movie of the week spanning Nov. 28 through Dec. 4

'Chappelle's' Lost Season To Resurface on Comedy

New YorkComedy Central will present unaired third-season episodes of Chappelle's Show, produced before comedian Dave Chappelle left the network.

Sketches equating to about four episodes, sans the traditional introduction from the comic, will debut during the second quarter of 2006, Comedy said.

The network offered a sneak peek at some third-season sketches during its Comedy Central's Last Laugh '05, which aired Dec. 11 at 9 p.m.

Comedy Central's Last Laugh '05 also became available on Comedy's “MotherLoad” broadband channel (www.comedycentral.com/motherload) today.
