TBS added The Office and My Name Is Earl to its very funny lineup.
TBS, in conjunction, with 10 Fox-owned stations, secured weekday stripped rights to Steve Carrell-starrer The Office, beginning in 2009.
However, the cable network also grabbed a repurposing window from NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution that will give it one Office hour per week, beginning this fall, according to a Turner spokeswoman.
TBS’ deal also includes nonexclusive broadband-streaming, on-demand and wireless rights for The Office concurrent with its off-network run, starting in fall 2009.
Variety reported that TBS and the Fox stations allocated more $100 million for the deal. An NBC U spokesman said the distributor also retained barter advertising components on both platforms.
Meanwhile, sources said TBS grabbed the off-network rights for Twentieth TV’s Earl beginning in 2009. As is the case with The Office, TBS will share the traditional syndication schedule with stations at that time.
