Sundance Examines Health Effects of 9/11

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 7/17/2006 9:55:00 AM MT

Sundance Channel will mark the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with the television premiere of documentary Dust to Dust: The Health Effects of 9/11 at 10 p.m. (EST/PST).

Produced by CBS News Productions in association with Sundance, Dust to Dust “takes a controversial and provocative look at what has happened to these unsung heroes [some of the first responders to the disaster] and how information released by the Environmental Protection Agency and the White House after 9/11, regarding the safety of the air at Ground Zero, has contributed to the rescue workers’ current medical problems,” Sundance said.

Dust to Dust will be preceded by at 9 p.m. Koenig’s Sphere, which “follows Fritz Koenig’s sculpture, Kugelkaryatide, the sphere that stood between the two towers of the World Trade Center, from its construction to the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks and the now heavily damaged sphere’s new position as a memorial in Battery Park,” the network said.

And immediately following Dust to Dust, at 11 p.m., Sundance will present the television premiere of September 11, which it described as “a feature film comprised of 11 short films by 11 directors from 11 different countries including Mira Nair, Sean Penn, Alejandro González Iñárritu and Samira Makhmalbaf. Each short is 11 minutes long and presents a unique perspective on the events that transpired on 9/11.”
