Cablevision Boosts Spanish Tier

By Staff -- Multichannel News, 6/3/2007 8:00:00 PM

Bethpage, N.Y.— Cablevision Systems has buttressed its iO en Español package, adding four new channels.

The fast-growing Spanish-language tier now includes NDTV-The Dominican Channel, Ecuavisa Internacional, Caracol TV Internacional and WAPA America, raising Cablevision’s iOe roster to 37 networks.

Featuring in-language networks from Latin America, South America, the Caribbean, Spain, Puerto Rico and Mexico, as well as unlimited use of Spanish-language video-on-demand service World Picks Latino, the package is available for an additional $4.95 per month to the operator’s Family Cable and iO digital-cable customers or $14.95 per month for customers of the company’s broadcast-basic level of service.

iOe described the new service entries as follows:

  • NDTV-The Dominican Channel: A news and entertainment channel offering shows produced in the Dominican TV market, such as To2Bien, Sábado de Corporán and Noche de Luz.

  • Ecuavisa Internacional: A general-entertainment Ecuadorian channel focusing on news, sports, politics, social issues, crime series, comedy and Ecuadorian telenovelas.

  • Caracol TV Internacional: Produced by the leading broadcaster in Colombia, the general-entertainment channel presents a variety of news, interview and sports fare.

  • WAPA America provides original programming from Puerto Rico, with content spanning boxing, baseball, news and Noticentro 4.

Additionally, Cablevision is currently offering 25 regular-season New York Mets Major League Baseball home games in Spanish to iOe customers. The games, televised live with Juan Alicea and Maximo Jimenez calling the action, are available on channel 231, exclusively as part of iOe.
