Cablevision Adds MTV Nets To Free VOD Offerings

Fare From Comedy, Noggin, The N, Logo And BET Now Available To Op’s Digital Subs

Cablevision Systems Corp. Monday said it has added content from several MTV Networks services including Comedy Central and Noggin to its free on demand offering.

The deal, which also includes on-demand content from Black Entertainment Television The N and Logo, will provide Cablevision with content from more than 100 shows .

“With the addition of leading cable programming from MTV Networks and BET Networks, Cablevision continues to demonstrate our commitment to offering customers greater value and more choice over their entertainment experience,” said John Trierweiler, Cablevision’s senior vice president of product management in a statement. “This expansion of the free video on demand library provides a broad range of content aimed at meeting the diverse entertainment needs of our customers.”

Denise Dahldorf, executive vice president, content distribution and marketing, said the agreement allows MTVN to deepen its relationship “with a trusted partner, [while] giving our audiences instant access to an even greater collection of our hit programming."

Among the programming that will be available:  The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central); Exes & Ohs (Logo) and Baldwin Hills (BET).

The deal marks the second major digital content acquisition deal for the New York metro area operator this month. Two weeks ago, Cablevision announced it would add will add high-definition services from Nickelodeon, Discovery Channel and FX as part of an overall 15-network HD rollout Aug. 1 that will increase its free enhanced lineup to 60 channels.
