Verizon said in won a franchise for its FiOS TV service in the Eastern Long Island, N.Y., village of Bellerose, where it will challenge incumbent cable TV operator Time Warner Cable.
The Bellerose Board of Trustees granted a video franchise to Verizon on Monday. The telephone company now has agreements to offer its FiOS TV product in 94 New York communities.
The agreement between Verizon and Bellerose is subject to review by the New York State Public Service Commission.
